Supajax requires strategy adjustments from the perfect strategy usually recommended for Jacks or Better games, because of the differences in the payout tables. What I've tried to do with this page is offer tips and strategies for beating Supajax that are both useful and easy to understand and use. SupaJax strategy begins with knowing when to play. The break-even point for this game, the point at which it becomes a positive expectation game, is $53,000. At that point, the payback percentage for SupaJax is approximately 100.1%. The most important of any of the playing tips you could get for playing SupaJax is that you must make the max bet, or you can't win the progressive. The progressive jackpot is NOT won by hitting the royal flush; it's won when you get 4 jacks PLUS the wild SupaJax card, of which there is only 1 in the deck. Almost all video poker strategies are written the same way, as a list of possible poker hands that you can be dealt. You start at the top and work toward the bottom, and you hold the cards indicated on the chart. 1. Supajax 2. Pat Royal 3. 3 Jacks & Supajax 4. Pat Straight Flush 5. Supajax *6 *2 At $65,000 you should hold a pair of Jacks over 4 Straight Flush, Inside. *3 At $79,000 you should break two pair and just hold a pair of jacks. *4 At $65,000 you should break 4 to a flush (jack high) and hold J/SJ. *5 At $71,000 you should break any 4 to a flush (except 3 to a Royal) in favour of holding J/SJ. *6 A single Supajax card is worthless without at least one jack A. High cards are jacks or better, low cards are between 2 and 10. B. An open straight is an incomplete straight with no gaps that can be filled on either the top or the bottom end of the straight: eg. 6,7,8,9 - a 5 or a 10 will complete the straight, so it's an "open" straight draw. C. An inside straight is an incomplete straight with gaps. eg. 2,3,5,6 - you need a 4 to complete this straight, so it's twice as hard to fill the straight. D. A penalty card is a card that removes potential secondary hands. eg. if we held the 3 to a royal in this hand - 2s,9c,Js,Qs,Ks - then the 2s is a flush penalty card, and the 9c is a straight penalty card.
